BKV Group was charged with balancing a tight budget constraint while creating a new collegiate identity with a prototype design applicable to five varied campuses. Building planning updates addressed swiftly changing demographics and economic shifts with adjustments to obsolete prior assumptions, including new thinking about student services delivery and campus accessibility; increased flexibility in classroom size and scheduling; program relocation, consolidation and elimination; connectivity between buildings; new campus entrance and “quadrangle” focus; athletic and physical fitness program needs; and expanded campus and college administrative offices.
Campus systems infrastructure and utility needs were redefined including campus-wide fire alarm and building automation systems, site lighting for security, chilled and hot water system distribution and storm water management.
