BKV Group provided architectural, structural, interior and site design services for this 25,000 newly constructed building for Rasmussen College in Peoria, Illinois. The one-story building houses educational spaces for training ranging from computer occupations to medical laboratories and nursing. The building contains a library and computer labs that fully engage current technology and are tailored to the needs of today’s students, which are increasingly varied. The library is central to the building plan and is the dominant visual element as the building’s entry is approached.

Natural light is captured to enhance interior spaces, including the lobby, student lounge and classrooms. Students have access to a landscaped outdoor courtyard from within the student lounge. The courtyard is designed to complement the building’s geometry and to form an extension of the library interior into the exterior landscape. The building exterior is designed to convey the forward-thinking nature of the client and its students, while maintaining a simple and clear expression of the institution.
