The Affordable Housing component of this facility consists of 98 residential housing units, 80% of which are made available to people who make less than 60% of the median area income. Connected to a public library, this urban revitalizing project is illustrative of the essential role a library can play in maintaining a strong neighborhood by helping to renew a culturally diverse neighborhood. The project is a showcase of new, affordable housing anchored by a library which will continue serving as a resource for the Hmong, Somali and other neighborhood populations. The housing component received funding from multiple sources including Minnesota Housing Finance, the City of St. Paul, Housing and Urban Development Fund, and the Metropolitan Council Family Housing Fund.
