Blue is a mixed use and income community located at the heart of the vibrant Lyn-lake neighborhood of southwest Minneapolis, just blocks away from the popular Uptown area and fronting the revitalized corridor of the Midtown Greenway. Comprised of two residential buildings ranging in height from 3 stories to 6 stories, the plan consists of a variety of dwelling unit choices, community and open spaces, new shops and restaurants.
Living green is the dominant theme at Blue. The building’s name alludes to the team’s commitment to creating an inviting living space that preserves and protects the surrounding air and water, while also fostering a connection to nature. The project incorporates indoor bicycle parking, priority parking for fuel efficient vehicles, renewable and recycled building materials, integration of green roof systems, passive design to respond sensitively to a particular solar orientation, natural daylight within all active living spaces, collection of rainwater for sediment control, high efficiency HVAC units, and low-e glass coatings. The development received LEED certification in February 2010.
